Fiji is recognised as one of the South Pacific’s most respected dive destinations, known for warm water, strong visibility, and extensive soft coral systems.
Royal Davui Island Resort is located within Beqa Lagoon, a well established dive region offering varied reef structure and consistent access to a wide range of sites. Our on site dive operation has been running for more than twenty years, with all dives departing directly from the island.
Certified divers, first time divers, and those continuing their training are supported by our PADI professionals. Diving here is shaped by regional conditions, seasonal patterns, and direct access within the lagoon, forming part of the wider range of experiences available at Royal Davui.

Fiji Diving

DIVING IN FIJI

Fiji sits within the tropical South Pacific and is widely regarded for its soft coral environments. Deep ocean nutrient flow supports dense coral growth and diverse marine life across the island groups.
Conditions remain relatively stable throughout the year. Water temperatures are warm, visibility is typically strong, and most regions offer a mix of reef, wall, drift, and lagoon diving suited to different experience levels.
Southern Fiji is particularly known for protected lagoon systems and established dive infrastructure. Beqa Lagoon, located offshore from Pacific Harbour, has developed a strong reputation for coral density, varied topography, and reliable access.

BEQA LAGOON DIVING

Beqa Lagoon lies along the southern coast of Viti Levu and is one of Fiji’s most established dive regions. An outer barrier reef creates both sheltered systems and current exposed sites within a compact area.
Most dive sites are reached within approximately 10 to 25 minutes by boat. Profiles range from coral gardens and reef slopes to pinnacles, walls, and channel sites, allowing conditions to be matched to diver experience.
Coral growth is dense and supports large schools of reef fish along with regular sightings of reef sharks and rays. Site selection is influenced by tide, current, and visibility.
Shark dives are conducted in designated areas under established safety protocols in coordination with specialist operators.

MARINE LIFE IN BEQA LAGOON

Marine life reflects the strength of the lagoon’s coral systems and tidal movement.
Soft corals dominate many reef faces, while hard coral structures support anthias, fusiliers, butterflyfish, angelfish, and parrotfish. Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks are regularly encountered, with grey reef sharks appearing on more current exposed sites. Rays and seasonal pelagic species move through deeper channels.
Macro life includes nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs, ribbon eels within reef rock burrows, and electric clams within coral crevices.
Marine sightings vary by season and site selection.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY & REEF PROTECTION

The reef systems surrounding Royal Davui have been maintained as a protected marine sanctuary for more than twenty five years. Fishing within this area is restricted, allowing coral and marine life to develop without ongoing local harvesting pressure.
Beqa Lagoon remains relatively low density in terms of large scale coastal development. Long term protection and controlled access have helped preserve natural reef systems.
Dive operations follow reef protection practices including buoyancy awareness and use of permanent moorings where available. The marine environment is treated as an ecosystem requiring ongoing stewardship.
