The Fijian Marine Life in and Around Our Island

What does Fiji make you think of?  Palm-tree filled islands? Stunning sunsets? Warm Fijian culture? Tick, tick and tick! But in the surrounds of Royal Davui, there is much more to see, including an abundance of Fijian marine life! Scratch below the glittering surface, and discover over 1500 species of fish and 390 species of corals!

Our water based activities are designed to give you full access to the diverse underwater world. Here’s a highlight of what you could see:

Kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding:

Believe us when we say that there is little as magical as stumbling upon a pod of dolphins tossing and turning in the water around you. Both Bottlenose or Spinner dolphins call our coastline home, and each is as cheeky and playful as the other!

Snorkelling in our inner reef:

Without a doubt, a highlight of exploring our warm waters with a snorkel is seeing sea turtles in action. There’s five different species of sea turtles around Royal Davui! The Loggerhead, Green Sea Turtle, Hawksbill, Leatherback and the Pacific Ridley turtle. If you’re lucky enough to be at a turtle breeding beach between November and March when the egg s hatch, you might even witness hundreds of baby turtles making their way to the ocean to be reunited with their families!

Diving in the outer reef:

Diving amongst over 1500 species of fish is a thing to behold. Our outer (and inner) reefs are home to both tropical fish and hundreds of variations of coral, creating a kaleidoscope of colour and life. You might just stumble upon giant manta rays, moray eels, sea snakes and so much more!
